I run my little webshop on Etsy (http://katheyl.etsy.com). I love food. I can't survive without the internet. I'm a closet hermit. I also enjoy poking around the web for all things pretty, unique, handmade, inspiring..basically, anything that I like. |
My parents had just returned from their vacation in Korea and bought a whole load of stuff. Mum was happily showing me her buys over Skype this afternoon and one of the items that she bought made me felt really guilty.
We have bought our flight tickets to head home for the next Chinese New Year but have yet to inform our parents. I have been lying to them about our home trip and was planning on giving them a surprise by appearing at their doorstep.
But when Mum showed me the ginseng she had bought and that she wanted me to bring some back (along with some facial masks) when I come home, I couldn’t help but feel guilty for lying that I haven’t bought the tickets. Dad also showed me the apple wine that they had bought on their trip and told me he will reserve it for the new year so that we can all drink it together.
That made me really, really guilty….and extremely touched at the same time.
Even though it’s still gonna be a happy ‘ending’ when I eventually appeared at their doorstep, I hate to disappoint them now when they are already making all the preparations for us to come home.
So I’ve decided to ditch the idea of a surprise. Can’t wait to tell them that we are really going home and see the delight on their faces! :)
